Aang, and even Katara, attempted to convey their feelings on several occasions, some as early as the first chapters of Book One. However, they are usually vague in their statements, cut off by another character or by some event. A notable example was in "The Cave of Two Lovers". The first time Aang is finally able to convey his feelings to Katara without being cut off and with her acknowledging his feelings occurred in "The Serpent's Pass".
