Everyone on Avatar Answers Wiki can ask and answer questions, rephrase questions, or flag questions for deletion. The top priority on Avatar Answers Wiki is getting the questions answered and no rights are needed for that.

Becoming an administrator Edit

You should have plenty of experience in doing the basic wiki tasks of answering, rewording, and categorizing, before volunteering to become an admin. Administrators are experienced users who have already answered many questions on Avatar Answers Wiki and want to help keep the wiki clean by deleting questions that are not allowed. Administrators should be willing to take advice from others and work in a collaborative and sensible way.

When you are ready to volunteer, just talk to a bureaucrat on this wiki about becoming an admin.

Administrator abilities Edit

  • Delete pages, files, and etc.
  • Rename files (these are mainly images and videos).
  • Protect a page so it cannot be edited or renamed by users without administrator rights.
  • Block an IP address or user name from editing.
  • Revert bad edits more easily using a "rollback" link.
  • Edit the MediaWiki namespace to make changes to the interface.

Administrator conduct Edit

Administrators should not use their administrator powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that is not vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin should not be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the Avatar Answers Wiki community.

Inactivity Edit

Similar to Avatar Wiki, administrators should remain active to assist the wiki. However, with regards to the process of administratorship in answers, the length of inactivity can amount up to six months before the removal of administrator rights is considered.

  • Administrators should alert the community to a leave of absence by adding the inactivity template to their user page. The administrator should also mark themselves as inactive on the list of administrators. Leaves of absence may be for any length up to a year.
  • Lapsing of user rights will be in effect if the administrator continues to be inactive for a prolonged period of time. Lapsing means that as soon as the administrator comes back and still wishes to contribute to the wiki, all that needs to be done is to request for his or her user rights back to an active bureaucrat. The removal process would still be followed – although a complete demotion would be disregarded unless asked.
