How can I become an administrator?
Edit
You should have plenty of experience in doing the basic wiki tasks of answering, rewording, and categorizing, before volunteering to become an admin. Administrators are experienced users who have already answered many questions on Avatar Answers Wiki and want to help keep the wiki clean by deleting questions that are not allowed. Administrators should be willing to take advice from others and work in a collaborative and sensible way.
When you are ready to volunteer, just talk to a bureaucrat on this wiki about becoming an admin.
What can administrators do?
Edit
- Delete pages, files, and etc.
- Rename files (these are mainly images and videos).
- Protect a page so it cannot be edited or renamed by users without administrator rights.
- Block an IP address or user name from editing.
- Revert bad edits more easily using a "rollback" link.
- Edit the MediaWiki namespace to make changes to the interface.
What can administrators not do?
Edit
Administrators should not use their administrator powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that is not vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin should not be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the Avatar Answers Wiki community.
